It is time to get things going, and Major League Fishing Foundation teams up with Foodland Plus Guntersville to kick off the summer with a two-day event hosted by Pro Angler, Chris Lane. Wes Long, who serves as the director of Major League Fishing Anglers Association, shared the vision for how the anglers can reinvest in the lakes. “The MLF Foundation seeks to develop programs that will invest back into the community and environment with stocking programs, boat launch care, youth activities, and more,” Wes Long said.
“It’s important to MLFAA, and all anglers, that we leave the lakes better than we fished them,” Chris Lane, a local pro angler and MLFAA board member, added.
Kick Off the Summer will be the first event of the MLF Foundation. The excitement began with the announcement of the initiative to stock lake Guntersville and enhance the DNA of the local bass with Florida strain bass. Those who are interested in being a part of the stocking of Lake Guntersville can give on the MLFAA website, at GTO in Guntersville, or at Waterfront Grocery in Scottsboro. We will pack memorial Day weekend with food, family, fishing, and fun.
Many of the MLF Pro Anglers will be on-site during the Saturday Kids Event hosted by Chris Lane and presented by Foodland. Although this year has been modified because of COVID restrictions across the county, kids can be driven through and receive their giveaway bags sponsored by Bass Pro Shop and others. The Foodland Team Bass Tournament will also begin Saturday morning with a weigh-in at 1pm.
Kick Off the Summer moves to the new Sand Mountain Amphitheater in Albertville for a Saturday night outdoor concert. The headliner will be Tracy Lawrence. The opening band will be Scooter Brown Band. Kick Off the Summer with food, family, fun, and fishing!
